The Gates Cambridge Trust Scholarships represent one of the world's most esteemed international scholarship opportunities. Number of Scholarships Available:
Approximately 80 scholarships are granted each year.
Target Audience:
Citizens of any country outside the United Kingdom.
Scholarship Coverage/Inclusions:
A Gates Cambridge Scholarship encompasses the entire cost of studying at Cambridge, covering tuition fees, a maintenance allowance (£20,000 for 12 months at the 2023-24 rate; pro rata for courses shorter than 12 months – for Ph.D. scholars, the award is valid for up to 4 years), a single economy class airfare at the start and conclusion of the course, as well as inbound visa expenses and the Immigration Health Surcharge.
Furthermore, it offers supplementary discretionary funding, such as academic development support, family allowances, fieldwork grants, and more.

Eligibility Criteria:
You are eligible to apply for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship if you meet the following criteria:
- Citizenship in a country outside the United Kingdom.
- Application for one of the following full-time residential study programs: Ph.D. (full-time or part-time*), MSc, MLitt (full-time), or a one-year full-time postgraduate course, with certain exceptions (refer to the list above).
For the October 2024 intake, Gates Cambridge is continuing to pilot a scheme that permits applicants to seek funding for a part-time doctoral degree.
Application Instructions:
Applicants are required to submit their applications for both admission and funding (Gates Cambridge and other sources of funding) through the University's Graduate Application Portal. To be considered for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship, you must complete the admission application section, as well as the Gates Cambridge section within the funding application.
There are two application deadlines for Gates Cambridge Scholarships: October 11, 2023 (for US citizens residing in the USA) and either December 5, 2023 or January 4, 2024, depending on the course (for all other eligible applicants).
